History
The cappuccino owes its name to the Capuchin monks of the 17th century, whose brown habits were the same color as this beloved drink. However, the modern version with espresso and frothed milk only emerged in the 1930s in Italy, when the first professional espresso machines with steam wands came to market. Since then, the cappuccino has conquered the world and become a symbol of Italian coffee culture.
Taste Experience
The first contact is the silky foam kissing your lips. Then comes the perfect harmony of bold coffee and sweet milk. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, and a hint of citrus are softened by the milk but not hidden. A cappuccino is like a gentle embrace in the morning.
Fun Fact
In Italy, cappuccino is only drunk in the morning, never after lunch. The combination of milk and food after 11 AM is considered difficult to digest. If you order a cappuccino in the afternoon in Rome, you'll be spotted as a tourist!
