History
Espresso is the heart of Italian coffee culture, born in Milan at the beginning of the 20th century. The name literally means "pressed out" – a reference to the process where hot water is forced through finely ground coffee under high pressure. This revolutionary brewing method was patented by Luigi Bezzera in 1901 and changed the coffee world forever. In Italian bars, espresso is traditionally enjoyed standing at the counter – a brief, intense moment of pleasure that punctuates the day.
Taste Experience
The first sip reveals notes of dark chocolate and ripe berries, followed by a velvety body and a long, sweet aftertaste. The golden-brown crema carries intense aromas of caramel and roasted nuts. A perfect espresso is like a poem in liquid form – brief, intense, and unforgettable.
Fun Fact
In Italy, ordering a cappuccino after 11 AM is considered a faux pas – but an espresso can be enjoyed at any time of day. Italians drink an average of 14 billion espressos per year!
