History
Darjeeling, the "Champagne of Teas", grows on the mist-shrouded slopes of the Himalayas in the North Indian state of West Bengal. The history of this exceptional tea begins in 1841, when British surgeon Dr. Archibald Campbell planted the first tea seeds from China in his garden in Darjeeling. At altitudes between 600 and 2,000 meters, where cool mists embrace the tea gardens and intense Himalayan sunshine kisses the leaves, the unmistakable muscatel character develops that enchants connoisseurs worldwide.
Taste Experience
The first sip transports you to the tea gardens of the Himalayas. A bright, golden infusion with the characteristic muscatel aroma – that unique combination of Muscat grapes and fresh flower meadows. On the palate, an elegant lightness reveals itself with notes of green almonds, white peach, and a hint of oakmoss. The finish is long and silky, with a subtle astringency that invites another sip.
Fun Fact
The unique muscatel aroma of Darjeeling is partly created by tiny leafhoppers that nibble on the tea leaves. The plant responds by producing special aromatic compounds – an example of how nature creates something wonderful from apparent damage.
