History
The Latte Macchiato – Italian for "stained milk" – has its roots in Italy but was elevated to an art form primarily in Germany and Austria. Originally developed for children who wanted to participate in the adults' coffee ritual without consuming too much caffeine. The characteristic layered drink in a tall glass became a symbol of modern café culture in the 1990s.
Taste Experience
Every sip of a Latte Macchiato is different – more milk and foam at the top, the intense coffee band in the middle, gentle milk again at the bottom. Without stirring, you experience a flavor journey through different layers. The combination of bold espresso with creamy milk is like a gentle coffee dream.
Fun Fact
The perfect layers are created by the different densities of milk and espresso. The trick: the milk must be at exactly the right temperature for the espresso to float in the middle!
